How To Use Eakin Ostomy Seal?

Preparation and Application of Convatec Eakin Seal

  • Make sure the skin surrounding the stoma is clean, dry, and free from oils, creams, and/or soap residues.
  • Stretch to fit around the stoma. For some people, its easier to apply the Eakin Cohesive Seal directly to the skin. To apply the seal around stoma, remove release paper from both sides of the seal and shape or stretch it to fit
  • The seal may be cut and rejoined to fit around difficult sites.
  • Then place the seal on body and carefully mold it, making sure to have a snug fit around stoma.

Filling In Uneven Skin:

  • Fill in uneven areas. Some people need to fill in uneven peristomal skin to help prevent leakage.
  • To apply, remove the release paper from both sides of the seal, break the seal into smaller pieces, and roll or mold.
  • User can cut and rejoin the seal as necessary.
  • When the Eakin Cohesive Seal is shaped, press it into skin. Once the seal is in contact with skin, gently smooth it or mold it further and achieve a custom fit.

Attaching the Ostomy Pouching System

  • Two-Piece System: If user have already placed the seal around stoma, press the skin barrier to skin and the seal, then apply pouch to the skin barrier. If user have applied the seal directly to the skin barrier, apply the skin barrier to skin, then apply pouch.
  • One-Piece System: If user have already placed the seal around stoma, apply pouching system over the seal. If user have applied the seal to system, attach the pouching system to skin.

Eakins Seals Removal:

  • Gently remove the ostomy pouch system by peeling from the body.
  • Eakin Cohesive Seals or Skin Barriers will not harm the skin when being removed from the body. Residue can be removed from the skin by rolling and peeling.
  • An emulsifying agent or medical adhesive remover can be used topically to remove tackiness from the body.
