How To Use Hollister Premier One-Piece Drainable Pouch with Convex Flextend Skin Barrier?


To begin with, get your ostomy supplies ready. For this you will need-
  • new drainable pouch
  • a pair of scissors
  • disposable bag (for disposing the used one)
  • water
  • some tissues
  • gentle soap

How to Apply One-Piece Ostomy Bag?
  1. Take your new soft convex ostomy bag and cut the opening using a pair of scissors. To avoid cutting the pouch simply pull it away slightly and then cut the opening in the skin barrier. Curved blade scissors work the best for cutting an opening.
  2. After you have cut the opening you may want to smooth the inside edges of the skin barrier with finger tips.
  3. Now close the one piece colostomy pouch that has an integrated closure like lock & roll.
  4. Peel off the backing paper. Make sure the adhesive is facing up.
  5. Now is the time to remove the used pouch, it is easier to empty your pouch before removing it.
  6. When taking pouch out carefully lift an edge of the adhesive and gently peel downward pushing the skin away from the skin barrier. 
  7. Dispose the used pouch off using a disposable bag.
  8. Now gently put the new hollister ostomy pouch.
  9. Routine change of pouch ensures hygiene and safety from skin infections. Change the pouch once it is full, the frequency of changing an ostomy pouch depends on the individual. If you do change it, prefer doing so in the morning.
  10. Cleanse your skin well with a gentle soap and water. Do not use any lotions of scented soaps.
  11. This one-piece drainable pouch comes with a Convex Flextend Barrier, therefore you need not use any skin gel, prep wipes or other ostomy accessories.
